Shortcut in Keyboard on Computer Microsoft Word

Short Cuts is Keyboard
The Computer Class start with what Keyboard is which we ready know is a peripheral input electronic device. Each of the short cuts don't work in all application but what you need to know is these corel draw is not the same with Microsoft word, Excel, Powerpoint, Photoshop and so on.
Now, am going to use a simple language and terminology because the class will continues from Part one.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER

WHAT IS A COMPUTER?

A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information, or "data." It has the ability to store, retrieve, and process data. You can use a computer to type documents, send email, and browse the internet. You can also use it to handle spreadsheets, accounting, database management, presentations, games, and more.

                                  INPUT ------------ PROCESSING ------------------OUTPUT

Basic parts of Computers: basically, computer is divided into two parts. They are:
·         Hardware
·         Software
HARDWARE
Hardware is any part of your computer that has a physical structure, such as the computer monitor or keyboard or the Central Processing Unit (CPU).
Central Processing Unit - Though the term relates to a specific chip or the processor a CPU's performance is determined by the rest of the computer's circuitry and chips.
Keyboard:  The main tool to get information into the computer and the most common way to tell the computer what you want it to do.  Most keyboards have the same arrangement of keys as a typical typewriter keyboard.  Computer keyboards have additional keys  that perform computer-specific functions.
Mouse - Most modern computers today are run using a mouse controlled pointer. Generally if the mouse has two buttons the left one is used to select objects and text and the right one is used to access menus.
Monitor:  The "Television" screen that allows you to see what the computer is doing.   Many newcomers to computing mistakenly think of the monitor as the computer itself.   Computers can operate without a monitor, but computer users cannot.
INPUT/OUTPUT DEVICES
INPUT DEVICES
·         Keyboard
·         Mouse
·         Scanner
·         Digital camera
·         Joystick
·         Pen drive
OUTPUT DEVICE
·         Monitor
·         Printer
·         Plotter

ð  DVD/CD R-W
ð  Floppy Drive
ð  Graphics Card
ð  Sound Card
MEMORY DEVICE
Storage: Computer can store a huge amount of data for the future use in auxiliary device like floppy disk, hard disk or compact disk. The storing capacity of computer is expressed in bytes. Normally one bytes store one character of data.

1 bit
4 bits
1 nibble

1 kilobytes (KB)
1024 KB
1 Megabyte (MB)
1024 MB
1 Gigabyte (GB)
1024 GB
1 Terabyte (TB)
There are mainly two types of memory:
PRIMARY MEMORY: This is the main memory of the computer. This memory is used frequently by the CPU for execution of the instructions. There are two types of Primary Memory:
·         RAM: RAM Stands for Random Access Memory. Initially every task is stored in Ram & then executed or stored in Hard Disk. It stores data temporarily. It ranges from 64 MB to 16 GB.
·         ROM: ROM stands for Read Only Memory. It is a programming chip, where all the system information are recorded & can’t be changed.
SECONDARY MEMORY: These are storage devices & are used to save the programs files permanently. There are different types of Secondary Memory. They are:
·         Hard disk
·         Floppy disk
·         CD / DVD
·         Pen Drive
KEYBOARD LAYOUT AND DATA ENTRY
ENTER or RETURN - Moves the cursor down one line and to the left margin. Enter also processes commands such as choosing an option in a dialog (message) boxes and submitting a form.
DEL or DELETE - Deletes the character at cursor and/or characters to the right of the cursor and all highlighted (or selected) text.
BKSP or BACKSPACE - Deletes the character to the left of cursor and all highlighted text.
SPACE BAR - Moves the cursor one space at a time to the right
SHIFT KEY - Use the shift keys to type capital letters and to type the upper character on keys with two characters on them.
CAPS LOCK - Locks the keyboard so it types capital letters (a light goes on when caps lock is on)
TAB - Moves the cursor five spaces to the right (number of spaces are usually adjustable). Tab moves to the next field in a form or table (Shift-Tab for previous field).
ESC or ESCAPE - Cancels a menu or dialog box
ARROW KEYS - Moves the cursor around document without changing text
FUNCTION KEYS or F KEYS - Access commands by themselves or in combination with the three command keys; CTRL, SHIFT, and ALT
SOFTWARE
Software is any set of instructions that tells the hardware what to do. It is what guides the hardware on how to accomplish each task.
Software can be divided into three big categories: Operating systems, Programs and Data.
The operating System: This takes care of the processor and the motherboard, of controlling the computer hardware and the human-computer interaction. There are currently three widely used operating systems:
§  Microsoft Windows (with its versions, XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 etc.) which is the market leader.
§  Linux/Unix: It is a family of very similar operating systems), which is the new costless operating system.
§  Macintosh computers have their operating system Mac OS X.
Programs: These are software which is used to do particular task, e.g Microsoft word for typing, Internet Explorer for browsing, etc.
Data: This is everything which is produced either by the user of by programs (sometimes even by operating system) to store information, e.g. a document file produced by word is a data, a downloaded web page is also a data.
INTRODUCTION TO DESKTOP
Basic terms related to windows
v  Desktop: It is the background area of windows on which windows, icon, menu and dialog box appear.
v  Start Button: It is the especial button, use to start almost all of the programs based on the windows. When you click the start button, you will see a menu, which contains everything you need to begin using windows.
v  Icon: Icon is the graphical presentation of the computer’s items. Desktop icons are those icons, which remains on the desktop.
v  Taskbar: taskbar is the blue or grey horizontal line located at the bottom of the desktop with start button and indicators. It is especially use for switching between opened programs and folders.
